Hervey Bay Regional Gallery is a public gallery funded and operated by Fraser Coast Regional Council as a community cultural development service. As well as supporting the professional development of artists, Hervey Bay Regional Gallery is committed to promoting significant aspects of the region, encouraging community participation in Gallery activities, fostering curatorial practice, and encouraging and healthy and sustainable local arts industry.
Over the past year Hervey Bay Regional Gallery has undertaken significant community consultation to inform a new strategic plan. Valuable feedback and insights gained from the Hervey Bay regional Gallery Consultative Groups and Indigenous Community Representatives Group, along with workshops, diagnostic sessions and focus group discussions were used in its formulation.
This consultative process identified new strategic directions required to establish the Regional Gallery within the Fraser Coast, Wide Bay and broader Queensland region as a professional public art gallery meeting national standards and creatively engaging within a broad and culturally diverse demographic. Key to the project was the recognition that this strategic plan must focus on connection to community and country, and storytelling.
How can I be involved?
Council is currently undertaking a community survey seeking community feedback in relation to the Strategic Plan. We encourage community members who wish to have their say to take the survey, register for engagement hub (if they haven't already) and follow this page to keep up to date and be notified about engagement opportunities.
