To raise awareness around dementia, a photographic exhibition is on display sharing personal stories from dementia clients and carers.

This snapshot is about their life, their achievements, and their wisdom so their family, friends and wider community do not forget who this person really is and not just their illness.

Fraser Coast Dementia Alliance worked on this project to raise awareness of dementia within our community.

The project aimed to;

  • Demonstrate that there is more to a person than the illness they have now.
  • Improve awareness about dementia and to initiate conversations about living with the ilness and persons impacted.
  • The positives and the negatives and how we can support those living with dementia.
  • To promote and encourage a community to become 'Dementia Friendly'.

If you would like further information, please contact Fraser Coast Dementia Alliance on 4194 2441.

This exhibition is on display upstairs in Gatakers Creative Space.

About the photographer

The Fraser Coast Dementia Alliance wish to acknowledge and thank Rowey Allen, our wonderful photographer who has volunteered her services to this project for the last 2 years.  This talented photographer showed great compassion when working with the individuals who participated in this project, in order to create a photograph that in itself tells a story without any words.
