Maryborough Regional Arts Council presents

An Evening with Roman Rudnytsky

Roman Rudnytsky is an American concert pianist of Ukrainian background.  A graduate of the famous Juilliard School in New York, he has been playing concerts for years and has now played in 100 countries..

He has been soloist with many orchestras around the world, playing about fifty different works for piano and orchestra with them.  He has played concerts in 35 countries through US Embassies as a kind of "cultural ambassador" and has played recitals on about 70 cruises of P&O (UK) and Cunard ships.

Roman Rudnytsky was a prizewinner in ten international and national piano competitions.

He has made 21 tours in Australia--every two years since 1979---and has played around 600 concerts there---more in quantity than in any other country that he has toured in..  These have ranged from the Sydney Opera House to many country and Outback towns in all the States and in the NT.  His tours have averaged three months in length each time.

He did the Australian premiere performance in 1993 with the SBS Youth Orchestra in the Sydney Town Hall of the then-recently discovered (1989) Liszt Concerto No.3 in E flat for piano and orchestra. The SBS made a documentary of this, calling it "Discovering Liszt", and broadcast it over their TV network.    He also served as Artist-in-Residence at the Univ. of Melbourne Faculty of Music (twice) and at the Univ. of Wollongong School of Creative Arts.

The current tour in Australia---his 22nd---goes from July to the end of September and the tour consists of 25 concerts.   He is already planning his next (23rd) tour in Australia in 2023  (September through November) and there are  already ten concerts in place, with more expected.

Other concerts in 2022 were in the UK, USA, and on three cruises of P&O and Cunard ships.

In addition to his concertizing, Roman Rudnytsky was for many years a university professor of piano and music---mostly, at Youngstown (Ohio) State University--Dana School of Music---where he got a "Distinguished Professor Award".  Since retiring from there in 2011, he has been and is "Professor Emeritus".
